Camden Middle student arrested for threat
A Camden Middle School student has been arrested for making a threat about violence against other students, according to a press release from Camden County Schools.
Kingsland police officers told school administrators at about 7 p.m. Tuesday that they were investigating a verbal threat that had been intercepted through social media. Officers worked with the Camden County Sheriff’s Office to identify the person who made the threats. Officers found and detained the student, who admitted making the threats.
“The threats were verbal in nature against students and taken very seriously by law enforcement and school administrators,” according to the release. “This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of the partnership between schools, the community and law enforcement to prevent violence in schools. We ask that parents and community members continue to help protect the safety of our students, staff and visitors by remaining vigilant and reporting any perceived threat. We also ask that everyone remind students of the serious consequences for making threats of any description and our intent to pursue and hold accountable those who make them.”
