Candidates qualify in St. Marys

As of 4:30 p.m. Friday, the following people have qualified to run for mayor and St. Marys City Council Posts 4, 5 and 6 on the Nov. 8 ballot.

Post 4 — Dave Reilly (incumbent)

Post 5 — Allen F. Rassi Jr.

Post 6 — Linda P. Williams (incumbent) and Jay Moreno

Mayor — John F. Morrissey (incumbent)

Residents who want to run for office can qualify from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today through Friday, Aug. 19, in the city’s clerk office at city hall, which is located in downtown St. Marys at 418 Osborne St. The qualifying fee is $342 for mayor and $270 for each council post.

This year council posts 4, 5 and 6 are up for election.

Residents who want to vote in the Nov. 8 election have until Oct. 11 to register to vote or update their status. Residents can check their status and precinct information by visiting www.mvp.sos.ga.gov.

Early voting opens Oct. 17 at the registrar’s office in Woodbine and runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. each week day through Nov. 4.

On Nov. 8, polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. throughout St. Marys.
