Qualifying for four city council seats closed Friday afternoon with contested races in both Kingsland and Woodbine.
In Kingsland, James Galloway and incumbent James Ham Jr. qualified for Post 1. Mike McClain, J.C. Arnett and incumbent Rick Winters qualified for Post 2. Each council member will hold office from Jan. 1, 2018, through Dec. 31, 2020. All candidates will be elected by a majority.
In Woodbine, Barbara Scott and incumbents Hank Higginbotham and Louise Mitchell qualified for two seats that will be elected by plurality. The two candidates who get the most votes will take office.
Voter registration for the Nov. 7 election closes Oct. 10. Residents can check their voter status and precinct information at www.mvp.sos.ga.gov.
Absentee ballot requests are now being accepted. Ballots must be submitted by Nov. 3. An absentee ballot request form may be obtained by calling the Camden County Board of Registrars at (912) 576-3245 or sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Applications are also available at www.mvp.sos.ga.gov or the mobile app GA SOS.
