Kingsland Kmart closing
Kmart, an anchor retail store in Kingsland’s Camden Woods Shopping Center, informed employees on Wednesday that it soon would be closing its doors.
An assistant manager at the store on Wednesday confirmed the closing, but would not give further details and referred the Tribune & Georgian to a corporate office. Calls and emails from corporate representatives were not returned on Wednesday.
The shopping center has been at the apex of several road construction projects over the last few of years, including the extension of Middle School Road and the addition of a stoplight and crossing to Boone Avenue. Both projects added better access to the shopping center.
According to the City of Kingsland, occupational tax records show the retail store had approximately 60 employees, mostly part-time.
