Rustapalooza returns to St Marys

Rustapalooza Vintage Markets is returning to downtown St. Marys for the third year in a row for an expanded show April 6 and April 7 after an overwhelming response in past years. Pickin’ for a Purpose tickets are also back for this show to help raise money for the St. Marys Main Street’s public art project.

Rustapalooza: Spring in St. Marys will be open from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 6, for Pickin’ for a Purpose ticket holders and from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, April 7, for Early Pickin’ ticket holders and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday for general admission.

This year more than 100 vendors from more than six states will display vintage, antiques, architectural salvage and home decor items at the gateway property on the waterfront in St. Marys at 100 Ready St.

“We have once again carefully hand-selected the most amazing vendors across the South with unique finds,” show curator Maria Riebe said. “I’m so excited for you to shop all their amazing finds. Our vendors tell me that they save up some of their best picks for this show and that the customers that shop here are so amazing. This is our third year and fourth show in St. Marys and our shoppers have come to expect the high quality of vintage items that our vendors have to offer.”

All tickets can be purchased online at General admission, which is $5, and Pickin’ for a Purpose tickets can be purchased at the gate. Early Pickin’ tickets are $10 for 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday. Pickin’ for a Purpose tickets are $20 for Friday night with a portion of the proceeds supporting the St. Marys Main Street public art project. The last Pickin’ for a Purpose helped the city purchase a tidal clock that has been installed at the entrance to the waterfront park.

“We have partnered once again with the St. Marys Main Street Association to offer this VIP early shopping event in advance of our Spring in St. Marys show. We are excited to be able to help fund a new and exciting art project for the downtown area,” Riebe said.

St. Marys Main Street is raising money to support the Owls on Osborne public art project. The project will work with a local artist to create several bronze owls to be hidden in the commercial downtown area creating an owl scavenger hunt. The art project is currently being designed by a local St. Marys artist and will bring a new adventure for tourists and local families alike.

“We are very grateful to have found a partner like Maria Riebe with Rustapalooza who loves downtown St. Marys as much as we do,” Becky Myers of the St. Marys Main Street Office said.

Pickin’ for a Purpose ticket holders will enjoy special perks on Friday night only with door prizes from vendors and local merchants, a visit from Blurt the baby goat, photo opportunity with the Tin Can Photo lounge, live music and a food truck rally on St. Marys Street. Friday night attendees may also shop all day Saturday with their fundraiser ticket.

The food truck rally will also be open for free on Saturday on St. Marys Street.

Rustapalooza Vintage Markets has been nationally recognized as the Best Outdoor Vintage Show in Georgia by the readers of Flea Market Style Magazine.
