St. Marys candidate forum planned
St. Marys City Council candidates in three different races will share their opinions at a candidate forum on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at Cumberland Inn & Suites.
Voters are invited to Tuesday’s event, which starts with a meet-and-greet reception at 5 p.m., followed by the forum at 6 p.m. The program will last about an hour and a half. Those in attendance will have additional time to talk informally with the candidates afterwards.
Candidates who have confirmed their attendance include Artie Jones Jr. and Wiley B. King in Post 1, Jim Goodman and Elaine Powierski in Post 2 and Jim Gant in Post 3.
The Tribune & Georgian and the Camden County Get Out the Vote Team are sponsoring and organizing the event. Publisher/editor Jill Helton will emcee the forum and moderate the question and answer portion of the program.
The Tribune & Georgian staff will select the questions asked during the forum. Citizens are encouraged to contribute suggestions by emailing email@example.com. Questions may also be submitted during the meet and greet prior to the forum.
“With so many critical issues facing the city, it is important that voters make good choices at the ballot box. We hope that city residents will take advantage of this and other opportunities to get to know each of the candidates and what he or she is about,” Helton said.
The two organizations are also planning a Kingsland candidate forum at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23 at College of Coastal Georgia in Kingsland.
