Barbara Lord Kirshfield left this world suddenly on Friday, Jan. 22, 2016.
She was born in Delhi, N.Y., to Harold and Eloisae Lord and was the youngest of six children.
She met Alfred F. Kirshfield when they both were in the Air Force. After a whirlwind courtship, they married in Biloxi, Miss., on June 7, 1952, and enjoyed 63 years together.
She leaves behind her husband as well as her two daughters, Janice Kirshfield of Woodbine and Sherra (Tim) Nuttall of Woodbine; her grandchildren who she loved tremendously, Eloisae (Michael) Patterson of Martinez, Brianna (Brandon) May of St. Marys, Vivian (Clester) Hornsby of Augusta, Kevin (Denise) West of Fort Stewart, Alex (Ashleigh) Nuttall of Woodbine, Keith West of Far Rockaway, N.Y., and Garth L Nuttall III of Woodbine; and her great-grandchildren, Drue and Ian Patterson, Cameron and Addison May, Lillian and Tyler Hornsby, and Kaia and Thea Nuttall; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered for her love of nature and her giving spirit. She was an avid Wildcat football fan and barely missed a game in the past 25 years.
She retired from the public affairs office on Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base and had been a civil servant for more than 50 years. She traveled the world with her husband Alfred and they settled in Camden County in 1987 where they have resided since.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you place a bird feeder in your yard in her memory or donate to a charity of your choice. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Allison Memorial Chapel and Funeral Home of St. Marys is in charge of arrangements.
