Police seeking robber's identity
St. Marys Police Department is asking for the public’s help to identify a man who robbed Heritage Bank in St. Marys on Monday.
Two police officers arrived at the bank just after 4 p.m. Monday and spoke with the teller who had dealt with the robber, according to the incident report. The man had already left the bank. The teller said she was approached by a 30- to 40-year-old stocky black male who is about 5-foot-7 to 6 feet tall. He didn’t say anything but handed her a note that said he wanted 50- and 100-dollar bills, had a weapon and didn’t want to hurt anyone. The teller put the money and bait packs into an envelope and handed it to him. He turned around and left the bank.
Another teller told the officers that the man had been in the bank earlier and walked toward her booth, patted down his pockets, then said he couldn’t find his card and that he would come back later.
Bank staff provided officer with video footage of the robbery and serial numbers on the bills.
