Dr. Charles Richard Crocker, 83, of Kingsland passed away on the evening of Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at the Senior Care Center in St. Marys.
Dr. Crocker was born Jan. 26, 1935, in Columbus to the late Charles “Grady” and Bertha “Kathleen” Crocker.
As most knew, Dr. Crocker loved and was devoted to his 60 years as a chiropractor as he cared for his many patients who were all considered family. Before becoming a chiropractor, he served in the National Guard for a few years.
When he wasn’t in the office, he was an active Mason and served as worshipful master and was a Shriner for many years. In his time off he loved to sing and play his many instruments. He also loved woodworking and rebuilding musical instruments. There wasn’t anything that he couldn’t fix. When he wasn’t working or serving as a Mason and Shriner, you could find Dr. Crocker and his soulmate either fishing, traveling or camping outdoors. He will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him.
Dr. Crocker is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Betty Crocker of Kingsland; his daughter, Kathleen Broughton of Goose Creek, S.C.; his sons, Doug (Jill) Crocker of Edgewater, Fla., Kenny (Sharon) Crocker and Keith Crocker, all of Kingsland; his brother, Ray (Chris) Crocker of Columbus; his grandchildren, Todd (Tina) Lanier, Jennifer Williams, Kimberly (Billy) Saturday, Rachel Crocker, Brian (Emma) Crocker, Derek Crocker, Chelsea Clayton, Ericka Broughton, Erin (Danny) Waters and Travis Padgett; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sisters and brothers, Marcia Brasher, Janet Bennett, Jim Crocker, Mike Crocker and John Crocker; and his daughter, Cheryl Evans.
A graveside service for Dr. Crocker was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 2, at Lawnwood Cemetery in Kingsland.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Dr. Crocker’s name be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles or to the charity of your choice.
