Man charged with 33 felonies in fraud case

A Jacksonville, Fla., man has been charged with 33 felonies in Georgia for allegedly purchasing and using stolen cards to buy diesel fuel.

Alfonso Jimenez Cedeno was arrested Sept. 6 and has been charged with 13 counts of identity fraud, 10 counts of financial card fraud and 10 counts of criminal receipt of goods and services, according to a Kingsland Police Department press release.

Kingsland police officers were dispatched Sept. 6 to the Pilot gas station on Scrubby Bluff after a report was made about suspicious activity. Staff had noticed the same vehicle at the diesel pumps eight times that day, making purchases totally more than $4,000, and the vehicle had come back again.

The officer approached Cedeno and called for a deputy to translate. Through the translator, Cedeno said he had allegedly bought gift cards that he knew had stolen financial information on them and used them to buy diesel, making multiple transactions in Camden County in the last several months.

Investigators don’t know yet where the card information was stolen and all of the victims haven’t been identified. Anyone who has had suspicious activity on a financial card should call KPD investigator Steven King at (912) 729-8254.
