Employer: Christ’s Church Camden

Lives in: Kingsland

Professional responsibilities: I oversee our church’s relationship with the community and local ministry partners. My job is to make sure we are growing in our love for Camden County and that our community is better because we are here.

Accomplishments/Honors: My greatest accomplishment and the honor of my life is being a mom. I adopted my daughter out of the local foster care system and have learned so much about myself and our local system through her life. Being Cassadee’s mom is everything.

Community Involvement:
Member of the Camden County Board of Education, Launched Hope1312 : Camden’s Foster Care Ministry

Why did you go into your field? I originally got into ministry to work with teenagers. My degree is in adolescent psychology, and I fell in love with the mind of teenagers. I recognized early if we could get to teenagers and help them sooner, we might just be able to create a better, healthier future for everyone. I have stayed in church ministry for the last 20 years because I love people. I love seeing people connect with the God who made them and find hope and a more fulfilling life.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? A doctor

What was your first job? Lifeguard on Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base

What is the best advice you’ve ever received? Just because you can doesn’t mean you should.

What’s your favorite thing about your job? My favorite thing about my job is the incredible people that I get to work with and that I get to meet so many amazing people in our community. All my very best friends have come out of my job.

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you first started your career? That working with people is really rewarding but equally really hard.

Who do you consider to be your greatest mentor and why? My mom. She always showed me what it meant to be a woman who worked hard for what she wanted, how to be independent and strong, and how to love people well.

When you’re not at work, what do you do to relax? I love playing pickleball and hanging with daughter.

What is something about you that most people don’t know? I played soccer and softball in college

How do you hope to grow in your career? I always want to grow in how I love people and how I represent myself in this community. I always want to make decisions with integrity and compassion and do what’s best – even when it isn’t the easy choice. My job is dependent upon me being a person of character and integrity and living a life worthy of the calling placed on it.

If you couldn’t do what you’re doing now, what would you be doing? School counseling.
