Vivian V. Kight Banks, 73, of Woodbine passed away on Thursday, Aug. 5, 2021, at her residence.

She was born on Sept. 22, 1947, to the late, Willie D. Kight, Sr. and Lilla Green Kight in Tarboro. Vivian was educated in the Ralph J. Bunche School System. She joined Oak Hill United Methodist Church, then to White Oak Pentecostal Church and then became a member of Harrietts Bluff Baptist Church where she assisted in the kitchen duties up until the Lord call her home to rest. She worked with Butler Funeral Home for almost 30 years as an assistant.

Vivian loved baking and cooking for those who enjoyed eating her baked goods and dinners. She was a fun-loving person who lived life to the fullest. Vivian loved to converse with everyone that she met, never meeting a stranger. The one thing about Vivian, she didn’t mince words when it came being right or wrong. If you are wrong, she didn’t mind telling you. Other than cooking for others, she absolutely adored her grandchildren and thought the world of them. The time they spent together was priceless and will forever be cherished for years to come.

Those left to cherish her memories: her children, Michael S. Kight (Shirley), Woodbine, and Monique (W.C.) Plant, Jacksonville, Florida; her stepchildren, Faye Roberts, Woodbine, George (Lisa) Broomfield, Jr., Jacksonville, Florida, Pervis Broomfield, Woodbine, Rev. Kevin Broomfield (Mary), Kingsland, and Jerry Banks, Woodbine; her siblings, Altamese Kight-White, Jacksonville, Florida, Lena Green, Brunswick, Loretta Kight, Woodbine, Rose Kight, Woodbine, Willie L. Kight, Jr. (Darlene), Jacksonville, Florida, John E. Kight (La’Trell), Brunswick; her aunts and uncles, Ophelia Green, Jacksonville, Florida, Verdie L. Mainor, Woodbine, Emma Hill (McArthur), Woodbine, and Jannie Walker (Emanuel), White Oak, and Edward Kight, Kingsland; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her dearly.
