A Waverly parent has been charged with two felony counts of cruelty to children after allegedly leaving two young children home alone for several hours with little food.

It’s been a long haul but ground will finally be broken next week for a freestanding tech college campus in Kingsland.

The Colerain widening project through Kingsland is a little behind due to four months of rain delays, but the westbound lanes are nearly completed.

The Lady soccer Wildcats’ first meeting with Tift ended, 1-0. With a Region 1-7A crown at stake last Friday in Tifton, they ensured the rematch wouldn’t be nearly that close.

With an outside chance of tying for the Region 1-7A lead last Friday, the diamond Wildcats instead slipped to solo third after stumbling twice at Colquitt.

Three shutouts last week boosted the diamond Wildcats to 15-7, extended their overall win streak to five, and tightened the Region 1-7A race.

David Kenneth Southern of St. Marys died on April 16, 2019, after a brief illness. He was 77 years of age.

Hayle Douglas (H.D.) Bell Jr., 78, passed away at his home in Kingsland on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019.

Ms. Clifford Charlene Gay Smith, 80, of St. Marys passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019, at the Life Care Center in Jacksonville, Fla.
