Tony William Daniel entered the gates of Heaven on Aug. 4, 2021, and Alene Keene Daniel joined him at the gates of heaven on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021. Both lost their battle with COVID-19 at the Advent Health Hospital in Orlando, Florida.

Tony was born on Aug. 12, 1959, in Copper Hill, Tennessee, to Essie and Rev. Wayne Daniel. Alene was born on Feb. 26, 1960, in Homestead, Florida, to Helen and Charles Louis Keene. As young children, both attended church and participated in church ministries.

Alene was a member of the Camden County High School class of 1978 and was employed by TruGreen from 1988 to present. Tony was a member of the Lithia Springs High School Class of 1977. He joined the U.S. Navy as a submarine sonar technician and served from 1978 to 1984, was a retired department of defense civilian, and most currently was employed by JCS Solutions as a contractor.

Both enjoyed camping, music, attending church and going on annual church excursions with friends.

They were preceded in death by their daughter, Blair Elizabeth Burns; Alene’s mother, Helen Little Keene; Tony’s father, Rev. Wayne Daniel;Tony’s sisters, Linda Ballew (Danny), Patricia Lasater and Tony’s bother, Charles Daniel, numerous grandparents, aunts and uncles.

They are survived by their son, Derek Jason Burns (Christina), and two grandchildren, Lucas and Payton Burns; Tony’s mother, Essie Daniel; Tony’s sisters, Nancy Daniel McVey (Bernard) and Janet Hilgerson; Tony’s sister-in-law, Marion Daniel; Tony’s family-in-love, Irene Reese, Ricky Jordan (Linda) and Kenneth Fuller (Heather); Alene’s father, Charles Louis Keene; Alene’s sisters, Linda Keene Kennedy and Cynthia Keene Herring; Alene’s brother, Glen Edward Keene (Dana) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Their family and friends will gather for a Celebration of Life on Sept. 19 at the North Jacksonville (Florida) Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. and the service will follow at 2 p.m. Masks are required and social distancing guideline will be followed.
