Susan Elaine Durbin, 70, of St. Marys passed away Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2021, at Southeast Georgia Health System, Camden Campus.

A wake and Rosary group will take place at 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26 at Allison Memorial Chapel with visitation following from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. A mass will be held at the base chapel at noon Friday, Aug. 27. The Rosary will be prayed prior to mass. Interment will be held at Belcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Salem, Oregon.

Sue was born on Jan. 25, 1951, to Benjamin and Virginia Roten (Bolinger) and was raised in Mill City, Oregon. She had called St. Marys home since the Navy brought the family to the area in 1987. She had a strong faith and was actively involved in the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic community on base. She also celebrated mass at Our Lady Star of the Sea in St. Marys and St. Francis in Folkston. She was outgoing and never met a stranger. She enjoyed Zumba, being with friends and cherished her time with family. She adored children and loved being a grandma and great-grandma, so much so that she lovingly accepted that title from many kids at church and in town.

She is survived by her children, Tina Frank (Eric) of Jesup, Aimee Donahue (Jim) of Kingsland, Jessie Durbin of St. Marys and Jonathan Durbin (Dana) of Hilliard, Florida; grandchildren, Michael, Anthony, Ashly, Chito, Morgan, Kimberlin, Abby, Robert and Faith; great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Daniel, Lucas, Cole, and Benjamin; brothers, Johnny Roten (Glenda) of Gates, Oregon, and Floyd “Freddy” Roten of Arizona; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends who all love and will miss her dearly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Durbin, her sister, Delsie Harris, and her brother, Bennie Lee “Red” Roten.

Memorial contributions are requested to the American Heart Association.

Allison Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
