CARTER – Jerry Melba Davis Carter, 78, of Woodbine, Ga., passed away Thursday, Aug. 18, at her residence after an extended illness.

She loved fishing, cooking, playing cards and camping. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her animals.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester Davis and Dorothy Williams Davis; husband, George Eugene Carter; two brothers, Jimmy Davis and Wayne Davis; sister and brother-in-law, Jackie Conroy and Bill Conroy; and sister, Joyce Borders.

Survivors include her daughter, Melba M. Parrott of Waynesville; three grandchildren, John Blair Jr. (Peggie), Amanda Blair (Benjie) and Danny Parrott Jr.; and 10 great-grandchildren, John Blair III, Christopher Taylor, Britt Blair, Jeremy Taylor, Dillon Johns, Branden Johns, Austen Johns, Trenton Johns, Audrie Miller and August Parrott. She is also survived by several great-great-grandchildren and other relatives and a host of friends.

A graveside service was 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22, at Colesburg Cemetery in Woodbine officiated by Mrs. Jessica Armstrong.

Pallbearers are John Blair Jr., Benjie Johns, Danny Parrott, Christopher Taylor, Jeremy Taylor and Dillon Johns.
