LIMBACH – Mr. Joseph Alvin Limbach, 78, passed away on the evening of Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2022, at his home in Kingsland, Ga.

Mr. Limbach was born Oct. 30, 1943, in Owensboro, Ky., to the late Norbert and Edna Mae Limbach Sr.

Mr. Limbach served in the U.S. Army from May 1964 to May 1967, having spent one of those years in Thailand. He took a short break after his service and then re-entered the U.S. Army, serving from August 1967 to August 1970, including a year in Vietnam, and attained the rank of staff sargent. During his second enlistment, he married the love of his life, Miss Linda Joyce Hunt, at Fort McPherson, Ga., on Nov. 11, 1967, and they have spent 54 years of life and love together.

After his military service, Mr. Limbach joined the Sears & Roebuck Company in the data processing department and retired with almost 20 years of service. During his time with Sears, Mr. Limbach also worked as a fireman and EMT with the Kingsland Volunteer Fire Department. After his retirement, he became a full-time fireman for Kings Bay Naval Base. Mr. Limbach also served as a city councilman for the city of Kingsland from January 1994 to December 2005. He also was a longstanding deacon at Kingsland First Baptist Church. He loved being a father and was even able to be a foster parent to children in need. He will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him.

Mr. Limbach is survived by his wife, Joyce Limbach of Kingsland, Ga.; children, Kathy (Cecil) Stephens and David (Lisa) Limbach; grandchildren, Bryan (Tracy) Stephens, Christian Stephens, Kalise Jones, Dixon Limbach, Davis Limbach and Dawson Limbach; and great-grandchildren, Ethan Stephens, Aaron Stephens and Autumn Stephens.

Besides his parents, he was also preceded in passing by his sister, Berladean Thomas, and his brothers, Norbert Limbach Jr., Eugene Limbach and Edward Limbach.

Funeral services were Monday, Aug. 15, 2022, at the Kingsland First Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Parker and Pastor Vernon Dillingham presiding. Interment was at Lawnwood Cemetery in Kingsland, Ga. Military honors were rendered 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, 2022 at graveside in Lawnwood Cemetery.
