Tommie LeRoy King, 74, of St. Marys passed away at his residence on Aug. 19, 2021. 

Mr. King was born in Waycross to the late LeRoy and Dorothy King. Tommie moved to Camden County in 1965 and made St. Marys his home. He served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam veteran, an avid hunter and fisherman and loved being outdoors. He retired from Gilman Paper Company, where he worked for 35 years as a supervisor on the No. 3 machine. Tommie was a Baptist and had been a deacon of the Westside Baptist Church. He loved his tractor and being on his family tree farm.

Survivors are his two daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Ricky Wimpey of St. Marys and their daughter, Meagan, and Kellie and Mike Kimbrell of Florence, Alabama, and their children Peyton, Madison and Ashton. He was preceded in death by his life partner of 50 years, Barbara King.

A visitation was held at Allison Memorial Chapel from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24. Funeral was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25 at Westside Baptist Church, with pastor James Roberson and pastor Greg Gardell officiating. Burial followed in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were be Teddy Varnedore, McL Carter, Steve Meeks, Adrian Meeks, Roger Pate and Bob Chubb

Honorary pallbearers were Foster Rowland, Billy Hope, Pete Godfrey, Denny Hill, Richard Johnson, Kenneth Brown and Charlie Lightsey.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Marys Fire Department, Heartland Hospice and Visiting Angels.

Allison Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
