HORNE – Mamie L. Cofer Horne, 92, of Woodbine, Ga., passed away Monday, July 18, 2022, at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Jacksonville, Fla.

Mamie Horne was born June 25, 1930, in Washington, Ga. She moved to Philadelphia, Pa., in 1947. She attended the public schools in Philadelphia. She met Henry Horne in 1948 and was married to him for 71 years. In 1989, they moved from Philadelphia to Woodbine, Ga. They built a new home on land purchased from Willie Parish Sr. Mamie worked at All Saints Hospital in Philadelphia for 18 years. After moving to Georgia, she worked at Villas by the Sea until retiring. She became a member of Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church and First African Missionary Baptist Church in Kingsland, Ga. She recently reunited with Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church.

Mamie leaves to cherish her memories her loving and devoted husband, Henry Horne Sr.; children, Sheila Powell (Charles), Henry Horne Jr. and Eric Horne (Felecia); 12 grandchildren, Mark Mitchell, Samantha Mitchell, Carl Mitchell, Carlisa Mitchell, Corey Mitchell, Sheryta Horne, Natasha Maxwell, Yolonda Smith, Verne’ Jarmon (Lyle), Celvin Baker, Erica Horne and Lena Horne; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Impact Worship Center, 1000 King Ave. in Kingsland, Ga. There will be no wake.  The body will be available for viewing from 9-11 a.m. the day of the service. Interment will be in Woodbine Cemetery in Woodbine, Ga. Masks are required.
