James “Wayne” Price, 79, lived in the Kingsburg community as he called it. Kingsburg is located halfway between Kingsland and Colesburg. He also referred to Kingsburg as the 51st State of the United States but it hasn’t been officially recognized yet. Mr. Price left us on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at UF Health Shands in Jax, Florida.

Wayne was born on Aug. 11, 1942 in Pehokee, Florida, to the late Sidney Catts and Omie Lee Price.

Wayne has called Camden County home his entire adult life. He was a pipefitter by trade as was his father, Sidney Catts Price, and brother, Sidney Lee Price. He and his brother worked most of their jobs together throughout their working career. The Price family pipefitters were members of UA Local 177 Pipefitters and Plumbers Union out of Brunswick for over 55 years.

Wayne loved a good joke, prank and hanging out with friends and family. He was well known for his free-hearted spirit and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. He loved to share the bounty from his green thumb via the harvest of his garden with those around him. He would give you the shirt off of his back if he thought that you might need it. But, he would not share his Milky Ways or his Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, those were strictly off limits, no questions asked.

He loved fishing, hunting (especially squirrel), crabbing, and tinkering with just about anything. He was always into something. In his younger years, he was known for being an avid softball player and had a love for drag racing with the good ole Camden County local boys. He was a dedicated lover of the Grinch, the Three Stooges and old Westerns. He was best known for his “Price’s World Famous” pickles, peppers, peanuts, jerky, etc.

He will be extremely missed by many but forgotten by none because he was the type that left a lasting impression on anyone whose path he crossed.

Wayne is survived by his four daughters, Theresa (Tony) Miller, Janet (Chad) Porter and Lisa Wells, all of Kingsland, and Sheila (Lance) Nicklaus of Dixon, Illinois; his sister, Ruth (Ronnie) Thigpen of Kingsland; his grandchildren, Dalton (Brandi) Nicklaus, Dorsey Popham, James (Katherine) Popham, Hunter Miller, Trevor Popham and Waylon Popham; his great-grandchildren, Maci Nicklaus, Kaycee Nicklaus, Hadley Nicklaus and Magnolia Mae Popham; and his step-grandchildren, Tristan Porter, Bryanna Porter and Jordan Porter.

Wayne was preceded in passing by his beloved wife of 50 years, Martha Prescott Price, his brother, Sidney Lee Price, and his parents, Sidney Catts Price and Omie Lee Price.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday April 12 in the Woods-Wainwright Chapel of Coastal Camden Funeral Home in Kingsland.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request that a donation be made to any animal shelter of your choice in Wayne Price’s name to help make it possible for all homeless animals to find a happy forever home.

Coastal Camden Funeral Home in Kingsland is entrusted with Mr. Price’s arrangements.
