Pre-kindergarten students share their expert turkey recipes
As part of an annual tradition, the pre-kindergarten children at Happy Apple Academy shared their Thanksgiving turkey recipes. We can’t vouch for every recipe, but some of the concoctions sound delicious.
Mrs. Ricard’s Red Apple Class
Sterling Hagmayer – Sometimes we get the turkey from killing it. Then, I will put it on the stove with some maple syrup. I really do like pancakes and bacon instead. No one really knows how long to cook a turkey except maybe my dad. I guess I could ask him. I did try corn once before, but I would rather have gravy and french fries on the side. Then, I get to go to my Uncle Jimmy’s with my cousins to eat the Thanksgiving turkey.
Emerson DeLuca – I will buy my turkey from Walmart like other people. I will cook it in the oven for 100 minutes on 740 temperatures. I cook it using sauce and seasonings. I like to eat my dinner with potatoes and meat sauce. My Mom, dad and Grandma all eat together.
Kali Malucci – I used to sometimes get turkeys from Walmart. I will need to cook it on the stove with ranch dressing, some chicken and salt for 2 minutes on medium level. I like to eat ketchup and corn with my dinner. I always eat Thanksgiving with my Mom, Dad and sometime Machi.
Piper Williams – You always have to get a turkey from the duck hunting place. Then I must put it in a pan and the oven with some pepper and cheese. I will cook it on 20 hot. It has to cook so long as it takes a long movie to play on TV. I will definitely share my turkey with my Mom, and we can eat some pancakes, too.
Susie McCall – When you kill it, like I did last time, you have to be so still. Dad did not help me. I will cook with all kinds of different stuff, and I will follow my mom’s recipe. I need to put it in a stove that is the size of me for about 8 minutes, and it won’t be that bad inside (hot), but we still have to use gloves on your hands. I get to eat it with black beans and mac & cheese. My Mom, Dad and sister always come over for Thanksgiving.
Brooklyn McCone – You have to go let the turkey die so that you can eat it and cook it. I would normally cook it in the oven for one hour, when it beeps it is done. I would try to make it look like a real turkey. You have to cut it up with a fork and put it in your mouth. I want to have Thanksgiving with my friend, Robert.
Keanu Cillo – I would get my turkey from the USA. I would put all the ingredients in it of course. With probably lots of other stuff. Then, I would cook it in the microwave for about 20 minutes until I know it’s done. I will eat strawberries with my dinner, and my mom and dad will have Thanksgiving with me.
Nova Snook – I have to get it from the store. I like turkey so I would like it crispy like bacon. I will need to put some ham on it, then salt, pepper and strawberries next to it. It goes in the oven for only 20 minutes. We will get some drinks and corn to go with it. I go to Thanksgiving with my Aunts and Aunts (Ants).
Easton Riggs – Everyone gets a turkey from Walmart, and I will get to use a knife to cook the turkey. In needs to go in the oven for 20-213 minutes at 2,000 degrees. I would cook it with some gravy, salt and vinegar. I would also want to put some chips on my plate. I thought my friends might would come over.
Olivia Rawl – First you have to get a turkey from any store. My mom will show me how to cook and crack some eggs. Then I can cook it in the stove for 2 minutes. Salt makes it really good. We can eat it with a salad on it and I like to eat them a lot. Then Baylor, mom, and dad go to visit Grandma in Connecticut, and we can eat apple pie and banana pie.
Carson Kosh – I go to the store, Walmart, and get a turkey. In the kitchen, I would use the oven and cook it with some grapes. It probably needs to cook for a long time around 4-10 minutes, in a really hot oven. Then we all have to cut it up and eat it with some french fries and maybe a few carrots. My mom and dad go to visit Thanksgiving at Grandma’s house.
Ariella Mendez – I think my mom would have to help me get it from Walmart. I would use the stove for only 1 minute. I would cook it with mustard on top. All of my family would eat with me and we like crabs, lollipops and blueberries.
Caroline Kosh – We get turkeys from a shop. I would have to cook it in the microwave for 5 minutes on really low, but with nothing on it, just plain. I would eat mashed potatoes with my dinner and then Mom and Dad go to the park.
Mrs. Lentz’s Green Apple Class
Piper Valdez – I eat turkey, and I have a toy turkey also. I buy turkey to eat from the farm. I put chocolate on top. Cook it in the oven for 100 minutes. I put it in a basket and share it with my Mommy and Daddy. My brother will eat dinosaur chicken nuggets.
Khloe Leoni – My daddy and my mom get a turkey from the zoo. Put sprinkles on it. I have rainbow sprinkles. Cut it and cook it in the oven for five. Put it on a plate. My mom will eat it with me. We will have bananas with it.
Hudson Green – I shoot a turkey and a deer in the woods. We will cook it on the grill. We put seasoning on it. You have to cut it. Daddy does that. Dump the things in the side of the grill to get it hot with fire. Leave it on the grill for 5 minutes and eat it with green beans. Eat it with your whole family.
Gracie Stover – Get a turkey at Nana’s. Put it in a pan. Put salsa on it. Then, we microwave it for four minutes. My Poppa takes it out and he burns himself. He puts a bandage on. We cool it off so I can eat it. It is not too spicy from the salsa.
Christian Cagle – I ate a real turkey before. My dad burned it, and I ate it. I get a turkey from Walmart. I put white chicken and salt on it. Put it on the stove for 5 minutes. When it is ready, cool it down, and I eat it. I eat it with pasta and cheese and red sauce.
Hayes Harris – Get a turkey from the restaurant. I like it to be medium large. Put salt, pepper and cheese on top. I like it a little bit colder. Put it in the oven for 20 hours. Then, put bread and cheese on top. Dad eats it with me. We put ketchup and more salt and pepper on it. We eat it with corn dogs. Yummy!
Mabry Brown – Buy a turkey from a restaurant. Season it with season. Cook it in the oven for four minutes. Put it on the table. Cut it. Eat cupcakes and pumpkin cookies with it. My family and my cousins eat it with me. Decorate with turkey napkins. Don’t forget the drinks. Drink milk with it.
Erik Towers – Where are the turkeys? In the woods? You need butter and a turkey. Put it in a bowl. Get a big scoop of butter and put it on with a knife. Cook it in the oven for 5-7 minutes. You eat it with butter. That’s it.
Abby Yonz – I buy a turkey at Aldi. I will put it under a fire so it can smoke. You need cheese, oil and peppers. Use a pizza cutter to spread the peppers on and sprinkle the cheese and oil. Put it on the wood for 20 minutes. Mom checks to see if it is done. It needs to cook longer, like 50 minutes more.
Sam Shurtleff – Get a turkey at the store. Put it in a bowl. Put salt and pepper on it. Cook it on the stove for 12 hours. Cook carrots to go with it. We will drink tea. We don’t have tea, so we have to make it. My cousin will come to my house, and we will play.
Scarlett Williams – I am going to buy a turkey at Walmart. Put strawberries, pickles, salt, pepper and mayonnaise on it. Bake it in the microwave for 6 minutes. Take it out of the oven. Daddy will cut it with a knife, and we will eat it.
Emilyn Smith – When it is Thanksgiving, I will get a turkey from the turkey place. To make the turkey, put nothing on it. Put it in the microwave for 60 minutes. Daddy, Mommy, Avonlea, Maggie, and Alistair, Grammy and Bubba will eat it with me.
Carter Lamb – Get a turkey at a Valentine’s store. The store is somewhere very sweet. Put every ingredient in and make the turkey. I cook with my dad every night. Put it in the oven for 3 minutes. Have some water with it. My mommy, my daddy and my brother will eat it too.
Mrs. Mays’ Purple Apple Class
Karysn Rieling – We go to Walmart and buy a turkey. When we get home, I help my mama put seasoning on it. Then, my mama cooks it in the microwave for 3 minutes. When it is done, we eat it with daddy and Koleman. It was good.
Bailey Marsh – I go to Winn Dixie with my daddy to get a turkey. When we get home, he rolls it up and cooks it on the grill. When the timer goes off he tastes it to make sure it is warm. Then we eat it with my mom and sissy. It was good!
Raya Wagner – I go to Aldi with my mama, dada, and Addy to get a turkey. When we get home I help my mama season the turkey with salt, pepper and ketchup. Then mama puts it in the oven for 5 minutes. When it is done, we eat it and I play with Addy.
Scarlett Fortier – I would go to Walmart and buy a turkey. When I get home, I put it on the stove and cook it for 17 hours. When it is done, I eat it with my mommy and daddy. After I eat I go play.
Callie Dubberly – First, I would need to go to Publix and buy a turkey. After I pay, I go get some mix to put on the turkey. Then I put it in the microwave to cook for 1 minute. When it is done I eat it with Brylie. It tastes yucky!
Lace Spatcher – We go to the store to get a turkey and bring it home in the car. I make a turkey sandwich with pickles. It is yucky!
Lennon Scott – I would go to Publix and get a turkey. When I get home, I put salt on it. Then I put it on the Blackstone for zero minutes. When it is done cooking, I eat with my mama, dada and Tillman.
Hudson Kimbro – I go to Publix to get my turkey. Then I cook it using a frying pan. It needs to cook for only 10 minutes. When it is done I eat with Kennedy.
Eason Thomas – I go to the farm to get a turkey. When I get it back to my house I cook it in the microwave with a pumpkin pie. I cook it for 16 minutes. After it is done we eat it with my family.
Miles Brant – I would go to the farm to get a turkey. Then it would lose its feathers and I would take it home to cook it. I put it in the microwave for 4 minutes. When it is done I eat it with ketchup. I like ketchup with turkey. It tastes delicious!
Brylie Leavitt – I would go get a turkey from a store that sells turkey. Then I put it in a van and take it to my house. When I get home I put seasonings on it and cook it in the oven at Mimi and Papa’s house. It needs to cook for only 20 minutes. When it is done, I eat it and save the rest. It was really, really, good, like chicken!
Mrs. Greene’s Blue Apple Class
Lennon Lewandowski – I get a real turkey from the pet store. I bake it in water, milk and pizza. I put it in the oven for 20 hours and then eat it with pizza and candles with my mom and dad and my new pet, Zooma. I have a pet turkey, and I share it with him, he loves it.
Barrett Heath – I go to Brunswick to Sam’s Club. Me and mommy will cook it in the oven at 80 degrees and put Chik-fil-A sauce and pepper on it. It cooks for 3 minutes, and we take it out and eat it with my sisters, brothers, mom and dad.
Sophia Munoz – We get our turkey from the base at the commissary. Mom cooks the turkey in the oven in a pan with sauce and pepper. She turns the oven on for a day. Mom and dad put it on a plate. I eat it in my mouth with my mommy, daddy, sister and brother.
Jake Hampel – I go to the farm and bring home a turkey. We cook it in the oven for 200 million hours. I eat it by myself and take big bites.
Carson Koile – We go to Walmart and get our turkey. We put it in the oven for a bunch of minutes and I eat turkey by myself.
Sylvia Wagner – I would go to Aldi with my family. Mommy takes the skin off and we put it in a pan with just salt. Daddy turns the oven at 4, cooks for 100 minutes, and takes it out with chicken. I eat it with a fork and plate and mac and cheese. And Mrs. Lori Greene could come if she wants to.
Millie Grace Justice – I get a turkey from the store where they have sprinkle cookies. It is called Publix. My mom makes it with chicken and white salt and brown salt. Then we set the table. We put it in the oven for 2 minutes. We eat with chips and Cheeto puffs.
Blaire Brazell – I get my turkey from Publix, wash it, put it in the oven with bananas. I turn the oven on 6 and cook it for 6 minutes. We take it out and set the table, I eat with Pearl and Ripp, they are my dogs. We also eat blueberries with just my family, no one else is invited.
Levi Fox – I go with daddy to the woods, and we would shoot it with a gun. We will pick it up and bring it home. He would slice it up, then he cooked it in the oven for 5 minutes. I eat it with mama and daddy, and we have it with pepperoni sauce.
Carter Croxton – My dad would go to the chicken place and get one, bring it home, and rip it apart. We will put meatballs on it and cook it in a pan for 5 minutes. We put it on a plate and mama cuts it and mama and daddy will eat with me.
Presley Hayes – I get a turkey from the store. You know that kind that looks like ham but it’s really turkey. We eat it with bread, just plain, with honey and cheese. We eat BBQ chips and we eat by ourselves.
Gwen Knox – We go to the turkey store. We cook it in an oven that is really hot for 3 seconds. Daddy would take it out, and we would eat it with my family. Then, we will eat ice cream and see a rainbow come out of the sun.
