Shakespeare at the Pier is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, May 24, at St. Marys Waterfront Park.
LightWorks will present “Much Ado About Nothing” at the Gilman Amphitheater at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 24. The show is free and open to the public. The play is being produced by All The Devil’s Shakespeare Company in St. Augustine. They perform in St. Augustine, Jacksonville, and in many locations in northeast Florida. LightWorks is funding their St. Marys performance on Memorial Day weekend.
“Much Ado About Nothing” is a witty Shakespearean comedy focusing on two couples: the sparring, stubborn Beatrice and Benedick, who are tricked into love, and the young, naive Hero and Claudio, whose romance is threatened by a malicious plot. Will there be a happy ending?
Shakespeare at the Pier will be an annual staple at the Gilman Amphitheater, where the whole community can watch a professional company present one of the Bard's famous plays for free. LightWorks is a nonprofit organization bringing All The Devils Shakespeare Company to the St. Marys and surrounding communities. LightWorks is partnering with Saltwater Performing Arts, St. Marys Little Theatre, Pigmental Films, and several other arts organizations and artists in a new arts Initiative that is emerging in southeast Georgia.
