Why did you go into your particular field? I started out pursuing physical therapy in college. While shadowing, I was allowed to observe orthopedic surgery and fell in love with medicine. Combined with my love of sports, primary care sports medicine was the perfect fit.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? Surprisingly a doctor.

What was your first job? Cashier at the Bulloch House, a restaurant in Warm Springs.

What is the best advice you’ve ever received? Don't make decisions based on others. Follow your heart and what's meant to be will find a way.

What’s your favorite thing about your job? The growing relationship with patients and seeing their joy when a problem they thought was impossible to fix gets solved.

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you first started your career? Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Know yourself and admit your limitations.

Who do you consider to be your greatest mentor and why? Andrea Pitts, M.D., Medical Director for Anderson University Athletics and Assistant Director of the AnMed Health Sports Medicine Fellowship. She is an ambitious, empathetic, gifted physician who continue pursue endeavors while being a fantastic mother of three boys and living a Christ-centered life.

When you’re not at work, what do you do to relax? Spend time with my husband, Chap, and 15-month-old daughter, Kathryn

What is something about you that most people don’t know? I’m ultracompetitive and will refuse to play any game I cannot win.

How do you hope to grow in your career? Continue to expand my knowledge and ability to care for others while never lacking compassion.

If you couldn’t do what you’re doing now, what would you be doing? Basketball coach or sports commentator.
