SMALL-COLSBY – Mrs. Jacqueline Deloris Small-Colsby, 79, a native of Camden County and resident of Glynn County, passed away Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022, at Southeast Georgia Healthcare System in Brunswick, Ga.

She was born April 20, 1943, in White Oak, Ga., to the late Jack and Marguerita Cchance Small Sr. “Jackie,” as she was many times referred to by her family and close friends, was educated in the Camden County School System and graduated from Ralph Bunch High School. Upon graduating she attended Howard University, FAMU, where she received her bachelor's degree, and Louisiana A&M, where she received her master’s degree in early childhood education. She was initiated into the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority in 1970.

Mrs. Jackie later met and was joined in Holy Matrimony to Harry Colsby of Brunswick, Ga. Mrs. Jackie was a member of Browns Chapel A.M.E. Church as a child, where she served as an usher and a still as a senior member of the church. She later became a member of Paynes Chapel A.M.E Church in Brunswick, Ga., where she served as the Christian Education Director, YPD Director, Church School Teacher, Senior Choir Member, Missionary and Trustee Emeritus.
Her work history includes that of an educator in the McIntosh County School System, as well as the Glynn County Board of Education, where she retired at Glendale Elementary School. After retiring from the school system, she found great joy spending her free time working in her church as the Sunday school teacher and spending time with her family and friends.
Mrs. Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Marguerita Chance-Small Sr.; sister, Gracie Life; brothers, Otis Small and Jack Small Jr.; great aunt, Sarah Small; and nephew, Brandon Small.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 41 years, Harry Colsby of Brunswick, Ga.; only biological daughter, Wynette (Marvon) Jackson of Savannah, Ga.; like a daughter, Gwendolyn Denise Colsby of Brunswick, Ga.; only biological granddaughter, Kiya Janel Russell of Savannah, Ga.; only biological grandson, Ezekiel Jamison Grant McPherson of Savannah, Ga.; Katiya Weston and Baya Burcham, who were like her grandchildren; biological great grandchildren, Kylie Renae Justine Butler and Semaj Sinclair McPherson of Savannah, Ga.; siblings, Alma Walther of Bronx, N.Y., Henrietta (Buster) Lee and Wendy (David) Minor, both of the Bronx, N.Y., Sandra Fleming and Eugene (Ella) Small, both of Savannah, Ga., Bobby Small of Brunswick, Ga., and Reuben Small and Edward (Casey) Small, both of White Oak, Ga.; great aunts, Louise Small, Mildred Small and Iona Small, all of Tarboro, Ga.; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Lattany, Mary Mullins, Joann Armstrong and Annie Core, all of Brunswick, Ga.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will miss her sorely.

A visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, 2022, at Fishers of Men World Harvest Church, 905 K. St. in Brunswick, Ga. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022, at the same location.

Interment will be in Clinch Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, 165 Owens Ferry Road in Woodbine, Ga.
