Tucker Pruitt to be Wildcats' third football coach in three months
According to multiple published reports, Appling County High School coach Tucker Pruitt has been selected to lead the Camden County High School football program.
Camden County High School will have its third football coach in three months, according to numerous published reports.
According to SCORE Atlanta and On3’s high school football and recruiting website, Camden County has tapped Appling County football coach Tucker Pruitt to lead the Wildcats. No announcement has been made by Camden County Schools or the Board of Education. Superintendent Tracolya Green would not say if Pruitt has been offered or hired; she did note the school board had not approved a new football coach yet.
Pruitt led the Pirates to an 8-4 record this past season in Georgia’s Class AA. Prior to landing at Appling, Pruitt was the head coach at Fitzgerald, where he led the Purple Wave from 2018 until taking the Appling job.
During his eight seasons at Fitzgerald, Pruitt compiled an 82-27 record, including two region championships and a Class AA state title victory over Thomasville in 2021.
Pruitt replaces Jon Lindsey, a former Camden County defensive coordinator, who was hired in November to lead the Wildcats’ program. Lindsey was originally hired to replace Travis Roland, who was fired after two seasons leading the Wildcats. Roland had a 13-8 record.
Pruitt has a 91-30 record (74.4 winning percentage) since 2017 as a head coach over nine years, eight with Fitzgerald. Prior to serving as a head coach at Appling and Fitzgerald, Pruitt was an offensive coordinator at Valdosta and Lowndes, both region foes for Camden.
