Camden County Schools announced Tuesday that Camden County High head football coach Jon Lindsey has stepped down due to “personal, unforeseen reasons,” according to a press release.
“Out of respect for Coach Lindsey’s privacy, no further details will be released,” the release says. “The school system remains committed to providing a positive and stable athletic experience for students. Plans are underway to ensure leadership and continuity within the football program, and additional information will be shared when appropriate.”
Two days after announcing the dismissal of former head football coach Travis Roland, Camden County Schools Nov. 14 released a statement announcing the appointment of Lindsey, a former Wildcat assistant coach, to the post.
Lindsey came to Camden County High as defensive backs coach in 2005 and was promoted to defensive coordinator in 2007 under former head coach Jeff Herron.
He held that job until 2011 before taking the first of four head coaching positions, and served again as Herron’s defensive coordinator from 2021 to 2023.
As a head coach, Lindsey was 44-31-1 across seven seasons at Irwin County, Cook, East Paulding and Appling County, with five state playoff appearances, according to the Georgia High School Football Historians Association.
The release says the search for a new head football head coach will begin immediately.
