Thomas Fletcher Herrin, 34, of Woodbine passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2021.

Thomas was born on Feb. 12, 1987, in Douglas to Kenneth Fletcher Herrin and Janice Jeffrey Herrin. He was raised in Brantley County. He was employed with Frito-Lay in St. Marys. He enjoyed his position with the company and loved the people he worked with.

Left behind in this wake of tragedy is his wife, Taron, and their three boys: Matthew (13), Waylen (6) and Wyatt (9 months). Thomas and Taron were absolute soulmates. As cliché as that may be, these two were inseparable. In their eight years and four months of marriage, they never spent a night apart, except when Wyatt was born prematurely in January of this year, and they spent their first and only two nights apart, due to COVID-19 restrictions.Their love was one of fairytales. He was absolutely the love of Taron’s life, and Taron was his.

He was a dedicated family man, protecting and defending his family with stoic resolve. A hero, in other words. Thomas’ favorite thing to do was anything that pleased his family. Not once did Thomas put his needs in front of his family. You would often see Thomas as “Mr. Mom” in the bullpen at Waylen’s baseball games, running household errands and chauffeuring his boys to various events. He was his boys’ biggest fan!

Thomas had gifts, gifts that can be rarely found. When a new baby was born in the family, he was always the first one that needed to hold the baby. In fact, he would get so antsy if another family member was “hogging” the baby. He was a true baby whisperer and you never heard a child cry in his arms. In addition to these special sets of skills, Thomas was an ace in the kitchen, his signature dish being pound cake. Over the years there were many lucky recipients to his famous

pound cake. We will all certainly miss those pound cakes just as much as we will miss Thomas.

Many will agree that to know Thomas was to know love and joy. He found the absolute best in everyone. His smile had a way of drawing you in and his hugs provided the comfort that all was right in the world. He was a true man of God

who loved to fish, hunt, cook, watch college football, cheer on his favorite baseball player, Waylen, play video games and hunt with Matthew and snuggle with Wyatt.

To the boys, he was “Diddy,” to the rest of us, he was one of the greatest men to walk this earth. His loss will never be fully grieved.

In addition to his wife of eight years, Taron Herrin, and sons Matthew, Waylen and Wyatt, Thomas is survived by his father and mother, Fletcher Herrin and Janice Herrin, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Patrick Murray and Tina Murray,

three brothers Eric (Laura) Winters, Aaron (Dolly) Winters, and Seth Herrin, and brother-in-law Tyler (Jessica) Murray. He also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, cousins, great nieces and great nephews.

A memorial service was held at 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8 at the United Methodist Church in Woodbine.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to his wife and children.

Allison Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
