John Alan Noyes, 71, of Kingsland, formerly of Casey, Illinois, passed away peacefully in his home on Dec. 21, 2021 following a very long battle with cancer.

John was born June 15, 1950. He was raised and attended area schools in Marshall, Illinois. He also studied several years at the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana before enlisting in the Army. John was with the 307th Engineer Battalion and the 82nd Airborne, later joining the Signal Corps for a total of 13 years active duty service. His military career and jobs in the private sector took him to many countries outside the United States and many states and territories within the U.S. Although he loved to travel and see new places, he was always anxious to return home to family and to resume his hobbies. John enjoyed shooting pool and was a member of the American Pool Association. He also liked to play cards, listen to classic rock music and drink a beer with his friends. He was a past member of the American Legion and a present member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. In addition, John was a very talented wood worker, designing and constructing many beautiful pieces of furniture for family and friends. After moving to Georgia in 2006, John was employed with AmTel in St Marys until his diagnosis of cancer in 2015.

John is survived by his wife of 48 years, Janeen Ault Noyes, father, Harold (Patty) Noyes of Paris, Illinois, and mother, Cora (Bobby) Francis of Marshall, Illinois. He leaves daughters Jennifer Noyes of Kingsland and Janessa (Chuck) Cochran of St. Marys and a son, Ian (Jaymi) Noyes of Ballwin, Missouri. His grandchildren in Illinois are Reese Draper and Jillian Draper of Martinsville. Those in Georgia are Charlie Cochran of Kingsland, Britny Pickering (Cameron Wilkinson) of Woodbine, Cameron Cochran (Tory Saunders) of St. Marys and Madeline Cochran of St. Marys. Grandchildren in Ballwin, Missouri, are Kinnedy and Liam Noyes. John’s great grandchildren are Parker Wilkinson and Ella Cochran. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and in-laws who will miss him greatly.

John was proceeded in death by a brother, Jerry Noyes.

At his request, there will be no formal service. John was a very private and quiet man who asked only that his ashes be spread in an Ault family wooded area in Illinois with family and friends gathering to enjoy time together. We will honor those wishes at a later date.
