Mack Hugh Sullivan Sr. was born June 8, 1942, in Woodbine to the late George E. Sullivan Sr. and Lucretia Way Sullivan.

Mack Sr. was educated at Ralph J. Bunche High School of Woodbine; he graduated in the class of 1961. Mack Sr. was the quarterback, known as “Shot Gun” who led the Hornets football team to the 1960 state championship and defeated Henry County Training School 45 to 2 (Go Hornets!).  He  served as superintendent of Sunday School at Hamilton Chapel United Methodist Church, Woodbine. He coached the Woodbine adult basketball team and participated and supported various sports organizations in Camden County. Mack served in the U.S. Army and received an honorable discharge in Dec. 31, 1967.

Mack passed away on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021, at his home with his loving family.

Mack Sr. leaves to cherish his loving memories, his wife, Lorraine Hutchinson Richo Sullivan, to whom he was married for 59 years, 10 months and 19 days; his children, Patricia Dallas, Mack H. Sullivan Jr. (Pamela), Menker D. Sullivan-Moore (Dereyone) and Jarvis Mahue Sullivan, who preceded him in death; his grandchildren, Terrance Dallas, Shareena Walker, Shatia Walker, Dinita L. Glover-Sullivan Hamilton (Waldron),  Camille D. Sullivan, Taylor D. Sullivan, Mack H. Sullivan III, Calvin Gerdt, Brittany S. Sullivan, Phillip J. Coleman; his great-grandchildren, Sage Walker, Kai A. Hamilton,  Kyla A. L. Hamilton, Khloe H. Hamilton, Kerigan L. Hamilton, Dwayne D. Dawson III and Dallin D. Sullivan; his brothers, George E. Sullivan Jr. and James C. Sullivan, who preceded him in death, Bernard Sullivan (Elizabeth, who preceded him in death) and Homer Sullivan (Luberta, who preceded him in death); his sisters, Patricia Kight, who preceded him in death (Howard who preceded her in death), Ann Weston, Gloria Williams (Theodore) and Cheryl Sullivan, who preceded him in death; a host of in-laws, nephews, nieces and cousins; and his lifetime friends, C. Harry Cummings and Robert Cummings. 

A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021, at Woodbine Cemetery, Highway 110.
