William “Bill” Samuel Walls Jr. of Woodbine left his earthly body after a brief illness on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick at the age of 87.

Bill was born in Valdosta to Kylie Elizabeth Walls and William Samuel Walls Sr. on June 27, 1933. He served in the United States Army from 1954-1956. On May 2, 1958, he married Jacqueline Little Walls of Woodbine. Together, they raised five children. He retired from CSX Railroad in 1995 after 42 years of service.

Bill was a faithful member of Woodbine First Baptist Church since 1958 serving as deacon, Sunday school director and choir member. He was a dedicated community member, serving 18 years on the Southeast Georgia Health System, Camden Campus Advisory Board. Bill was also a member of the Woodbine Free and Accepted Masons No. 326 for over 50 years.

An avid Camden County High School football fan, he attended nearly every home game for many years.

In recent years, he was unable to attend the games in person, but never missed a broadcast of his beloved Wildcats. He enjoyed driving his truck around the city of Woodbine visiting with neighbors and friends, attending the Woodbine Opry and never missed an opportunity to better his community.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie Walls (2006) and daughter, Alice Walls (1983).

Survivors include his daughters, Beth (Jim) Bennett of Ringgold, Georgia, and Kay (Chris) Page of Woodbine; son, Sam (Lori) Walls of Orange City, Florida; granddaughter, April (Aaron) Howard of Woodbine (who he raised after the tragic death of her mother Alice); grandchildren include Lindsey Bickmore, Sarah Partain, Caleb Bennett, Logan Page; and seven great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 26, at Allison Memorial Chapel. A memorial service with full Masonic rights will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 27, at Woodbine First Baptist Church with burial to follow at Homeward Cemetery in Waverly.

Bill’s grandsons Aaron Howard, Garrett Howard, Grayson Howard, Gibson Howard, Logan Page, Caleb Bennett, Nathan Partain and Justin Bickmore will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers include members of the Woodbine Free and Accepted Masons No. 326.

Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys is entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Woodbine First Baptist Church building fund at 300 W. Eighth St., Woodbine, GA 31569.
