Two games, two routs.
The Camden County High girls hoopsters quickly turned their first two contests into mismatches, defeating Johnson last Saturday and South Effingham Tuesday. Both games were in Kingsland.
The Lady Wildcats (2-0) will play in a Thanksgiving tournament in Jacksonville, Fla., then host Glynn Academy on Dec. 7.
CCHS 65, South Effingham 24
The Lady ’Cats led 8-0 in the first 90 seconds and kept pulling away behind Mahliya Reeder’s 20 points and Ty’Tionna Scott’s 19.
South Effingham didn’t reach double figures until midway through the third quarter and managed just four field goals by the start of the fourth.
Scott netted six of Camden’s first eight points, and the Lady ’Cats tallied the game’s first 10 before South Effingham hit a free throw. The visitors didn’t get their first field goal until 1:42 remaining in the opening quarter.
Camden set a 15-5 pace after a quarter, then went on an 11-0 spree in the first two minutes of the second. Reeder had 16 points — with a three-pointer — and Scott 14 in the first half, which ended with CCHS cruising, 39-8.
The second half opened similarly to the first half.
Scott hit two quick baskets, and Lea’nah Parrish (eight points) followed with a three-pointer. The fourth, shortened to six minutes, began with the Lady ’Cats breezing, 63-14.
Savannah France scored 10 points and Kailyn Chapman seven for South Effingham. A’Laila King-Codilla hit a three-pointer for the winners.
CCHS 72, Johnson 15
Parrish outscored Johnson all by herself and headlined a comfortable opening triumph.
Parrish tallied 20 points and drilled four three-pointers for CCHS, which led 27-4, 45-7 and 61-7 at the quarter breaks. She got all of her nine first-half points on threes, then added 11 points after intermission with another three.
Three Lady Wildcats reached double figures. Scott netted nine of her 15 in the first half, and Dasmine Cooper finished with 11. Bri’Yonnah West and J’Mya Albertie (three-pointer) scored eight apiece, and Reeder six.
Ty’Kera Coppock and Ze’Niah Watson scored five each for Johnson, and Malayla Wright three on a three-pointer.
