Former state Sen. Sheila McNeill died Monday at the age of 81. McNeill was the former state senator representing Camden County, a business owner and former president of the Navy League.

Sheila McNeill, the former state senator, Navy League president, beloved friend and leader in Camden County died Monday at the age of 81.
“She’ll be missed terribly,” said Mike Hodges, who voters elected to McNeill’s state Senate seat when she decided not to run for re-election.

Season closure puts eyes again on federal red snapper policy

As of Tuesday, no one can legally keep a red snapper harvested from waters from North Carolina to the Florida Keys. The recreational season lasted one day, July 12, and the commercial season closed this week because of vessels hitting the annual catch limit before the end of the year.
