JERNIGAN – Ellis “Chapo” Jordan Michael Jernigan was born Jan. 3, 1992, to Tammy Austin-Jernigan and Ellis Thomas Jernigan in Fernandina Beach, Fla. El departed this life May 31, 2022, at 30 years old. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jessie and Inez Austin and Johnny Jernigan Sr. and Mary Rhym.

El leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Angelica Mason-Jernigan; son, Prince Dupont; mother, Tammy; father, Ellis; sister, Tamecia L. Jernigan; and aunts and uncles, Sylvester Rudolph (Gloria), Audrey Austin, Janice Blair, Shelia Gibbs (Harry), Sarah Jernigan, Johnny, Joe, Richard, Solomon, Miles and General and their spouses. A host of aunts, cousins and other relatives have a plethora of joyful memories.

Ellis attended the Charlton County School system and obtained his GED before leaving this life.

The personality Ellis had meant he never met a stranger! His smile was infectious, and there was always a joke or a funny story on tap!

El formed lifelong friendships and unbreakable bond with many in the community. Among those were with Roland Humphries, Raven, Louie, Tucker Hamlette, Christy James and Marquis Lambert.

Special love and appreciation go out to Harry Gibbs Jr. and Tevon and Tamelia Blair. They grew up raised like siblings.

Ellis’ gift to this life was laughter! Among Ellis’ greatest joys was his nephew, Quadir Jordan, who will carry on his uncle’s name and legacy.

El encouraged everyone to enjoy life to the fullest! That included acknowledging God’s power to sustain us as only He can!
