Richard Harper Furlow Sr., 84, of Waverly died Sunday morning, May 17, 2020, at Hospice of the Golden Isles after an extended illness.

Mr. Furlow was born in Sinclairville, New York, to the late Howard Samuel Furlow and Angie Viola Caulkins Furlow and had made Waverly his home for 32 years. He served his country faithfully in the United States Air Force for 20 years fueling planes and was a talented barber. For many years, he was active in the local Masonic lodges and was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Furlow is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Jo Furlow of Waverly; three children, Debra L. Warner of Woodbine, Richard Furlow Jr. (wife Colleen) of Hudson, Florida, and Dorothy Demann of Florida; 14 grandchildren, Betty Furlow, Richard Furlow III (Slade), Richard Dale Furlow (wife Kellie), Sarah C. Barlow (Chris), Christopher Furlow (wife Jessica), Amanda Jean Bridges (husband Dustin), Ryan Furlow, Joseph Durrance, Denise Guerra (husband Richard), Chase Furlow, Robbie Demann, Devin Furlow, Chad Furlow and Jadia Furlow; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris Griffin; a brother, Rollin Furlow; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 21, at Homeward Cemetery.
