Ernest Holmes, 78, of Kingsland passed away on Aug. 30, 2021 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida.
Ernest was born on Feb. 28, 1943, in Homerville to the late L. and Ida Holmes. He had lived in Kingsland most of his life. Ernest owned and operated Ernest Holmes Concrete. He was a giving man and a hard worker. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing and enjoyed going on mission trips, where he shared his love for the lord. He was a member of The Harbor Worship Center.
Survivors are his wife of 58 years, Viola Holmes of Kingsland; his children, Jr. Holmes (Mary), Pam Crawford (Leonard), Julie Galloway (James), Angie Williamson and Robert Holmes (Sharon), all of Kingsland; grandchildren, Brandon Williamson, Timothy Williamson, Michelle Holmes, Lee Holmes, Jason Martin (Jasmine), Jesse Martin, Matthew Martin, Bethany Holmes, Travis Holmes, Hunter Holmes, Levi Holmes, Jessica Tarver (Lance), Jennifer Brant, April Crawford, Ashley Sullivan (Sterling), Eric Crawford (Kerra), Amy Barker(Jonathan), Amanda Harvel, Mandy Keller(Josh) and Garrett Galloway; and 25 great- great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Brant, and his siblings, Lee EL, Mary Emma, Sarini, Lillian, Sara Nell and Clarence.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 2 at The Harbor Worship Center with visitation held one hour prior to service time starting at 10 a.m. The burial was private.
Allison Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
