BUTLER – James Robert “Bob” Butler, 79, of Kingsland, passed away Thursday at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick.

Services to celebrate Bob's life will be noon Monday, June 20, 2022, at Allison Memorial Chapel with Pastor Greg Gardell officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the U.S. Navy.

Bob was born Sept. 24, 1942, in Panama City, Fla., to James Elbert Butler and Sybil Louise Wesley. He had lived in Kingsland since 1985 and was a retired chief petty officer in the U.S. Navy He retired from the Civil Service from Strategic Weapons Facility, Atlantic, at Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base. Bob enjoyed western and science fiction movies, morning breakfasts with friends and working with his hands. Bob had a strong work ethic, which he instilled in his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline Butler of Kingsland; daughters, Barbara Butler of Jacksonville, Fla., Londa Malloy (John) of Atlanta, Ga., and Cathy Clark (John) of Kingsland; son, Lamar Bowen (Hayley) of Woodbine; brothers, Wayne Butler (Linda), Ray Butler and Dickey Butler (Cecelia); sisters, Betty Butler and Janice Butler, all of Niceville, Fla.; grandchildren, Max Malloy, Sean Malloy, Patrick Tritt, Dalton Lewis, (Brittany), Trevor Lewis, Caleb Lewis, Lamar Bowen IV, Noah Bowen and Adaline Bowen; and great-grandchildren, P.J. Tritt, Jackson Lewis, Layla Lewis, Delilah Lewis, Reese Lewis and Lamar Bowen, V.
