Mr. Ray Kytle Keen, 88, of Kingsland passed away on the evening of Friday, Aug. 14, 2020, at Southeast Georgia Health System in St. Marys.

Mr. Keen was born on March 18, 1932, in Abbeville, Georgia, to the late Paul and Irma (Bowman) Keen.

Mr. Keen was a Korean Army veteran. Camden County became his home in 1961 when he moved here to begin his career with the Kraft Bag Plant as a machinist. Mr. Keen retired from Kraft Bag Plant after 27 years. He was a longtime and active member of the Baptist Purity Church. He loved filling his days with gardening, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed sharing his love for Christ with everyone he was around.

Mr. Keen is survived by his children, Sharon Keen of Woodbine and Franklin Keen of Yulee, Florida; his grandchildren, Ashley (Adam) Roush of Yulee, Joseph (Tripp) Trey III of St. Simons Island, Joshua Trey of St. Marys, Jason (Mandi) Keen of Yulee and Wesley Keen of Yulee; and his great-grandchildren, Ryan Trey, Aaron Roush, MaryLove Trey, Hannah Trey, Cason Keen, Sam Trey and Brysen Keen; his brothers, Charlie (Marion) Keen of Cochran, Georgia, Bobby (Nell) Keen of Pineview, Georgia, Jake (Linda) Keen, Eddie (Charlotte) Keen, Wade (Mary Jo) Keen and Andrew (Sheila) Keen, all of Abbeville; the mother of his children, Joyce Keen of Yulee; his stepchildren, Edna (Dominic) Giglio, Eddie Collins and Ronnie (Dolly) Collins; 14 stepgrandchildren; 18 step great-grandchildren; and nine step great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Besides his parents, Mr. Keen was also preceded in passing by his wife, Charlene Herring Keen, and his sister, Rheba Smith. 

A graveside service for Mr. Keen will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, at Siloam Baptist Church Cemetery in Abbeville. Pastors Bobby Hires and Richard Joyner will be presiding over the service. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Mr. Keen’s name to the Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, GA 31525. 

Coastal Camden Funeral Home in Kingsland is entrusted with Mr. Keen’s arrangements.
