Carl James Lovell Sr., 91, of St. Marys died Thursday, Feb. 27, at the Senior Care Center in St. Marys after an extended illness.
Mr. Lovell was born in St. Marys to the late Grover Camden Lovell and Gertrude Ryals Lovell and had made St. Marys his home for all of his life. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and spent lots of time on the water shrimping.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Colaluca Lovell, and a brother, Wenefred Lovell.
Mr. Lovell is survived by two children, Carl J. Lovell Jr. (wife Nancy) of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Cynthia Leigh of St. Marys; three grandchildren, Jeff Lovell, Jennifer Lovell and Morgan Brown; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, at Oak Grove Cemetery.
