Brandon Maurice Small, 34, was born on Aug. 28, 1985. He was the second of four children born to Edward D. Small Sr. and Casey C. Small.

Brandon departed this life on Aug. 15, 2020. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Jack Small, and maternal grandmother, Barnie R. Morris.

Brandon was a lifelong member of Brown's Chapel A.M.E. Church in White Oak, which he joined at a early age. He served in the church as a steward, honorary trustee, class leader and was a very active church member. He was a diligent recruiter For Men Only (FMO) Bible study and encouraged other men to attend to gain wisdom.

Brandon was a very proud father. He embraced fatherhood and worked hard to take good care of Brandon “BJ” and Braven. His sons were his motivation to be the best he could be and he took great pleasure in keeping smiles on their faces. He really loved spending time with his family and was known as the family comedian. He never met a stranger. He was a dedicated employee of the Atlanta Gas Light for approximately 13 years.

He was a 2004 graduate of Camden County High School in Kingsland. He loved playing football. He continued to play football through his senior year in high school and was a part of the 2003 Camden County High football championship team. Brandon also enjoyed the fashion of styling and profiling his cars that was his passion

He leaves to cherish his memories his two kings (as he called them), Brandon M. Small Jr. and Braven M. Small; parents, Edward D. Small Sr. and Casey C. Small; siblings, Edward “Nard” Small Jr., sisters, Latoya Small and LaTasha Small Denerrick Chambliss; grandmother, Marguerita Small; four great-great-aunts, Sarah Small, Louise Small, Mildred Small, Iona Small and Daisy (Bennie) Weston; one great-great-uncle, William (Catherine) Taylor; one great-aunt, Barbara J. (Calvin) Weston; aunts, Jacqueline (Harry) Colsby, Alma Walther, Henretta (Buster) Lee, Wendy (David) Ramos, Saundra Flemings, Felecia Small (Earl), Amanda Johnson and Yolanda Ray; uncles, Eugene (Ella) Small, Bobby Small, Jack Small, Otis Small, Reuben Small, Eugene (Ella) Small, Kelvin (Phyllis) Drummond and Tracy (Kimberly) Drummond; godparents, Rickey and Tracy Butler; and a host of dear relatives and friends.

Remains will be viewed graveside from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at Clinch Chapel Cemetery, 165 Owens Ferry Road in Tarboro.
