Charles “Larry” Standard Sr., 79 of Jackson, formerly of Kingsland, passed away Aug. 18, 2020.

He was born in Thomaston, Georgia, on Sept. 5, 1940, to the late Flem and Nellie Standard. Larry was also preceded in death by his brother, Boyce Standard; sister, Marie Standard; and beloved companion, Brenda Daniels.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1968 and eventually retired from Georgia Power after working as a lineman for 33 years. Larry was an avid golfer, gardener and passionately enjoyed spending time with his family.

Mr. Standard is survived by his son, Chuck (Sheri) Standard of McDonough; grandchildren, Joi (Nathan) Lopez of Griffin, Casey (Kevin) Johnson of Jackson and Chris (Lauren) Chupp of Griffin. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Audrey Lopez, Mallory Lopez, Silas Lopez, Blake Chupp and Caroline Chupp; sister, Sue Wagner of Jacksonville, Florida; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 20, at Haisten Funeral Home in McDonough. Rev. Stan Berrong will officiate a graveside service at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Hampton.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Shepherd Care Hospice in Griffin for the loving care and compassion given during the last weeks of his life.
