Juanita Louise Hawley Unangst Taylor, 83, of Folkston died Friday, Aug. 14, 2020, at St. Vincent’s Riverside in Jacksonville, Florida, after an extended illness.

Mrs. Taylor was born in Hudson, Ohio, to the late Arthur and Hattie L. Bennett Hawley and made St. Marys her home beginning in 1976. After many years in St. Marys working as security at Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base and working as an LPN for Gilman hospital and as the lead nurse at Dr. Alvarez’s office, she moved to Folkston. She was a Girl Scout troop leader for several years, coached softball and enjoyed a good Amish novel. She loved to cook, sew, do yard work and play the piano.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Jim Unangst; second husband, Tommy Taylor; a son, Daniel Unangst; four brothers, Art Hawley, Harold Hawley, Mell Hawley and Jim Hawley.

Mrs. Taylor is survived by her children, James Unangst of St. Marys, Cindi McMillan (husband Steven) of New Castle, Indiana, and Sandra Maldonado of St. Marys; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three siblings, Tom Hawley of Folkston, Della Strong of Shreve, Ohio, and Virginia Cross of Cuyahonga Falls, Ohio; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, at Allison Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends beginning at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
