Mrs. Dorothy L. Thrift, “Wanda”, 68, passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on Sept.

19, 2021, at Hospice of the Golden Isles with her sister-in love, Vicki (Sine) at her side.

She is survived by her husband, Leon; children, Renee Thrift of Kingsland, Travis (Jenelle) Thrift of Hortense and Scott Thrift of Jacksonville, Florida; one sister, Mary Ann Seman; and two brothers, Martin (Sherry) Turner and Bill (Joy Lynn) Turner. Wanda was blessed with six grandchildren — Amber and Taylor Morris; Wesley, Gabe and Colt Thrift; Greyson Thrift; two great-grandchildren, Guy Keller and Grady Morris; and multiple nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Wanda was born June 26, 1953, to Martin A. “Shorty” and Darthell Turner. She was a graduate of Camden County High School Class of 1971 and enjoyed keeping up with many of her classmates.

Upon marrying the love of her life, Wanda and Leon made their homes in Camden and Brantley County for over 50 years where they enjoyed gardening, family and newfound friendships. As they fully embraced the simple life, their devotion to each other grew deeper, stronger and stands as a testimony to their children and families of true love.

Wanda worked in both the Camden and Brantley county school systems as a paraprofessional where she is remembered as a caring, dedicated, compassionate friend to the teachers, students and administration. Her whole-hearted approach to life was filled with love, lots of laughter and a fierce dedication to family. She treasured the moments when Leon and her boys would sing and her grands and great-grands filled her home. Long-held family traditions of reunions and Christmas gatherings were close to her heart where it was expected she would provide her “Not your Momma’s Banana Pudding” along with other specialties her extended families had come to love. Her love of gardening

and canning the fruits of her labor were destined to be shared with others. Wanda treasured all these things and pondered them in her heart. In short, Wanda loved. Her love was deep, unconditional and unending — even in death.

Her celebration of life service will be held at Southeast Community Church in Kingsland on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2021 at 12 p.m. with visitation starting at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Colesburg Cemetery.

Allison Memorial Chapel is entrusted with her arrangements.
