A Jacksonville man is facing a felony charge in Camden County after a missing 11-year-old girl was allegedly found with him on Sunday.

Matthew William Woods, 19, has been charged with interstate interference with custody, which is a felony. The investigation is ongoing and deputies anticipate making more arrests and bringing more charges, according to a Camden County Sheriff’s Office press release.

Over the weekend, the sheriff’s office asked residents to help look for an 11-year-old girl who was reported missing Saturday, July 25, from her Kingsland home. By Sunday, the sheriff’s office sent out a Code Red alert and planned a press conference for Monday.

Woods and the girl had been talking with each other over social media and made plans for her to come to Florida for a few days, according to the release.

Officers found the girl around 5 p.m. Sunday during a traffic stop in Camden County. By 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office had arrested Woods on an extradition warrant. He was transferred to the Camden jail on Tuesday. He is being held without bond.
