The U.S. Navy has relieved Cmdr. Joseph Sammur as commanding officer of the USS West Virginia Blue Crew “due to loss of confidence in his ability to command,” according to an announcement by the military branch.The U.S. Navy did not specify a reason for Sammur’s reassignment.

The USS Georgia – an Ohio-class guided-missile submarine – returned from a mission for the final time Monday.According to a social media post from Submarine Group Ten, the USS Georgia will officially begin her “inactivation process” on Friday after 42 years of service.
