Marcelle W. Bennett, 79, of Woodbine passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021, at Community Hospice in Jacksonville.
Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, June 4, at Allison Memorial Chapel with Pastor Adam Perkins officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. A private interment will be held in the Waters Cemetery in Blackshear with Dusty Bennett, Dustin McCoy, Blake Manning, Walker Perkins, Chris Woodard and Steve Zimerle serving as active pallbearers.
Marcelle was born Oct. 31, 1941, in Blackshear to Willie Winifred Walker Sr. and Norine Carter Walker. She lived in St. Marys and then Harriett’s Bluff for the past 58 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church Harriett's Bluff and was an original church planter member of Point Peter Baptist Mission. She was a past member of St. Marys Jr. Women's Club and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
Marcelle was a master cosmetologist for 37 years, owning Marcelle’s Beauty Shop and Harbor Town Hairstyles in St. Marys. She enjoyed perfecting her artistic style on the many clients, friends and family who came to her to work her magic on them. In true entrepreneurial fashion, she also owned Harbor Town Act II, an antiques and collectibles consignment store. She and her husband Mike enjoyed searching for all of the treasures they shared with their customers. However, the greatest treasure she shared with others was her love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her ultimate goal in this life was to share the truth of God’s love and his sacrifice for all so they could share in the eternal life she now has through him.
Survivors include a daughter, Deanna Yates (Dennis); granddaughter, Kristin Woodard (Brian Clark); and great-granddaughter, Adeline Clark all of Aiken, South Carolina; siblings, Roy Evan Walker, Brenda Walker and Ronnie Haire of Patterson; sister-in-law, Deby Walker; brothers-in-law, Willie Bennett and Gary Bennett (Delores); numerous nieces and nephews; and dearest friend Kathy Pazdalski.
