Bruce
Mr. Richard Franklin Bruce, 72, passed away on the afternoon of Thursday, June 24, 2021, in Folkston.
Mr. Bruce was born on May 31, 1949, in Fernandina Beach, Florida, to the late Monroe Hoke and Willie Lorraine “Billie” Bruce.
Before his illness, Richard enjoyed fishing, genealogy and tinkering on all kinds of projects. He was always willing to help his brothers and sister with any of their home improvement/building projects. One of his greatest joys was loving his family, especially all his nieces and nephews. He was the “cool uncle,” always playing with them, riding them in his fast cars and just hanging out!
Mr. Bruce is survived by his sister, Janis Whitley and husband, Melvin; his brothers, Charles Bruce and wife, Pat, Jimmy Bruce and wife, Mary, Norman Bruce and wife, Darlene, and Mark Bruce and wife, Angie, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation for the Bruce family will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, at Kingsland United Methodist Church. Funeral services will begin at 3 p.m. at the church with Pastor Bruce Vaughn presiding. Interment will follow at Homeward Cemetery in Waverly. Ian Bruce, Ryan Bruce, Haley Twombly, Michael Bullard, Paul Bruce, Jimmy Asbell and Josh Asbell will serve as pallbearers.
