Joe Ann Campbell went to be with her heavenly Father on Thursday, May 13, 2021.

She was born Sept. 28, 1952, in Fernandina Beach, Florida, to the late Rev. Raymond W. Campbell Sr. and the late Mrs. Janette Campbell. She was also preceded in death by her four siblings: Raymond W. Campbell Jr., Lenora Mae Campbell, Calvin Lamar Campbell and Michael Everett Campbell.

Joe Ann graduated in 1971 from Camden County High School. She also attended Wilfred Academy Beauty School in St. Petersburg, Florida, where she resided for many years. Joe Ann was a certified nurse assistant and worked in the healthcare field. She also had a business in interior design.

Joe Ann was reared in a Christian home and she accepted Christ at an early age. She lived her life to the fullest through simple pleasures and enjoyed decorating, cooking and entertaining her family and friends. She left a legacy of love and she will be deeply missed.

She was a devoted mother to three children, Algernon Colby Campbell and Ernest E. Kates Jr., both of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Brittany A. Campbell, Jacksonville, Florida; and two special stepchildren, Latrevia Kates, Riverdale, and Kendrick Kates, St. Petersburg. She had 13 grandchildren, Shacaria Chambers, Todd Mitchell, Janekwa Harrell, InKerra Campbell, Dontreal Fletcher, Myesha Williams, Arneciya Campbell, Anaveyon Kates, Jay'Len Kates, Zoh’Ri Campbell, Abegayle Miller, ZaCor Campbell and ZyKodah Campbell; and three great-grandchildren, Zy'Aden Chambers, Ra’Miya Sylvain and Roderson Sylvain; two adopted grandchildren, De'Leana Conyers and Ayden Miller; three siblings Sammie Lee Campbell (Grace), St. Marys, Vernon Campbell Sr. (Dorothy), Temple Hills, Maryland, and Janette C. Daniels (Robert), Houston, Texas; one sister-in-law, Pastor Reather G. Campbell, Tifton; many nieces and nephews, Felicia Lattimore (Arthur) Plant City, Florida, Cecil Campbell (Paula) Bear, Delaware, Raymond W. Campbell III (Roxanne), Jacksonville, Sandra Campbell, Houston, Vernon L. Campbell Jr. and Crystal Campbell, Temple Hill, Reginald N. Daniels (Trina), Michelle Jackson (Rayfield), all of Houston, and Andrew Kates, St. Petersburg; many great-nieces and -nephews; and one great-great-nephew; and many wonderful cousins and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 22, at Wheeler Street Church of God, 900 Wheeler St., St. Marys. Services will be followed by cremation.
