Kathleen Vernell Cox, 84, of Woodbine passed away early Friday morning, Aug. 13, 2021, at Hospice of the Golden Isles after an extended illness.

Born in Waycross, her parents were George Hamilton Cox and Maude Elizabeth Booth Cox. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Herschel Lindburg Cox, and several brothers and sisters.

Kathleen was a homemaker and a member of Forrest View Baptist Church. She enjoyed doing puzzle books and gardening.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Troy Dennis Cox (Debbie) of Woodbine; five grandchildren, Lana Denise Batick (Brett) of New York, Lisa Ann Brice (Willis) of Cocoa Beach, Florida, Brian Cleveland of Woodbine, Christopher Cleveland (Whitney) of Kingsland and Amy Leigh Moore (Kyle) of St. Marys; six great grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Lois Dowling (Paul) of Waycross; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. Monday evening, Aug. 16 at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.

A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday morning, Aug. 17, at Colesburg Cemetery with Rev. Paul Roberson officiating.
