Yvonnie Lucille Chewning Crews, 77, of St. Marys passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021, at her residence.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 17, at Awakening Church with Pastor Sammy Spradley officiating. Burial followed in Oak Grove Cemetery with Mike Weaver, Chandler Hodge, Logan Carper, Derek Hernandez, Dwaine Miller, and Chris Smith serving as active pallbearers. Skyler Wynn was an honorary pallbearer. The family will be receiving friends from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.

Yvonnie was born July 11, 1943, in Cuthbert, Georgia, to Cullen and Lucile Chewning. She had lived most of her life in Camden County with exception of living in Brantley County for the past 10 years. She was a born again Christian and a member of Hortense Holiness Church. She enjoyed sewing, singing in church, shopping, crafting, traveling and was an avid computer user. She loved spending time with her family and with the raising of her children. She was the finance secretary for Bolougne Holiness Church

Survivors include her daughters, Wanda Brown of St. Marys, Jenny Weaver of St. Marys, her angel Cindy Floyd (Donnie) of Blackshear, Mary Aldridge (Ricky) of Browntown and Shirleen Wilson (Brandt) of Fleming Island, Florida; two sisters, Cordelia Austin of Oceanway, Florida, and Daphine Willey (Art) of Atlantic Beach, Florida; sisters-in-law, Mert Turner (Sam) of Callahan, Florida, and Virginia Strickland of Macclenny, Florida; grandchildren, Raquel Smith (Chris), Angela Brannen (Adam), Rachel Hernandez (Derek), Shanna Floyd, Jacob Floyd, Ashley Wynn (Skyler), Eric Floyd, Brittany Eatman (Doug), Erin Ginn (John) and Bekka Hartwick (Ben); great-grandchildren, Kali Hodge (Chandler), Logan Carper (Logan), Alec Brannen, Kailynn Hernandez, Katy Carper, Alyse Brannen, Braylee Carper, Caisyn Smith, Colin Hernandez, Ellie Ginn, Timmy Ginn, Oliver Wynn and Baby Hartwick; great-great-grandson, Levi Hodge.  

In addition to her parents, Cullen and Lucile Chewning, she was also preceded in death by her husband, JL Crews; a son-in-law, Randy Brown; and a brother, Larry Strickland.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the Alzheimer's Association.
