Jimmie Eugene Dawson Sr., 74, of Kingsland passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, surrounded by his family.

Jimmie Eugene Dawson Sr. was born on Feb. 6, 1947, to the late Deacon Rufus Dawson and Minnie Mae Dawson. He was a devoted father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and goddaddy who always put his family first. He was a longtime member of Zion Sisters Missionary Baptist Church.

He retired from Ellis & Ellis Construction after more than 20 years of employment. He had a love for fishing, hunting and spending time with family and friends. His caring nature for his family and friends will never be forgotten. He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Jacobs; his brother, Willie Dawson; his grandson, Sentarious Dawson; his son, Darrell Way; and Margaret Dawson.

Those left to cherish his memories are his children, Annalisa Dawson, Warner Robbins, Jimmie Dawson Jr., Macon, Lina Dawson (Curtis), Folkston, Danny Dawson (Yolanda), Kingsland, Rochelle Ingram, New Jersey and Florina Turnage (Michael), Vanceboro, North Carolina; one brother, Lemon Dawson, Kingsland; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two godchildren, Traci and Terri Dawson; his favorite niece, Samantha Dawson; a host of other nieces and nephews; special friends, Ricky Taylor, Connie Taylor and Mary Smith; special cousins, Inez Young, Ezell Dawson and Luther Walker; his special little buddies, Julian and Jayden; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 17, at Mallette Cemetery (Greenville Community) in Kingsland. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 16, at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel.
